A few problems I’ve worked on.

The exception is part of the workflow.

Operations staff needed to follow up on missing documents without repeating the same work. I co-developed the workflow and built the editor, then added the details that make automation useful in practice.

Rules, templates, and 30/60/90-day follow-ups that staff can manage without a code change.

A claim-specific edit carries into the next follow-up. Staff don’t have to make the same correction twice.

Version history restores earlier templates. A better workflow also needs a way back.

My ongoing dive into astronomy, 3D graphics, and browser performance.

Under the hood: a moving clock isn’t a moving galaxy

During development, the playback clock advanced while the galaxy stayed still. The rendering checks passed because they watched the clock and draw calls, not the motion on screen.

The fix updated time on the actual shader materials. The regression checks now inspect GPU time and compare rendered pixels, including stars in isolation. They also check pause, reverse, and reset.

The lesson: a passing test only helps if it measures the behavior that matters.

I like seeing the whole thing through.

I move between clarifying what’s needed, shaping the architecture, guiding implementation, and testing it. I learn what the work requires and stay with the details until I can make a sound decision.

While co-developing a correspondence workflow, I mentored four interns and added version history and persistent record overrides within the existing delivery timeline. A 1-in-4 on-call rotation has also kept me close to what happens after delivery.

I set a high bar for myself and welcome people who raise it. I like working with people I can learn from, and becoming someone they can learn from too.

HOW I WORK

AI changed
what I can take on.

For close to a year, AI agents have handled the coding in my work. I focus on understanding the problem, setting direction, and verifying the result. This site and its space explorer are examples: React wasn’t my usual stack. I used it anyway.

At Homesteaders, I also build shared AI tooling and help other engineers get started. Using it myself gives me something concrete to teach from.
